Not-NYCC Meet Up MOVED TO SUNDAY 10/14!!

Hey friends and lovers! Are you planning to go to NYCC, or otherwise be in the Manhattanish area on Saturday? TOO BAD!

What about Sunday Morning?! That's better!!! Do you want to say hello to us and May, and maybe be part of our next episode (which yes, there will be, shut up)?

Great! Then come to Bryant Park at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue between 11AM and 1PM on SUNDAY, October 14th, where we will be hanging out and taping a show. Check Evie's Twitter feed for the exact location in the park, but we shouldn't be hard to find.

Why aren't we having our meet up at NYCC, you ask? Well apparently to be approved for a press pass you have to not have had a baby and/or have a weekly podcast that has degenerated to semi-monthly. And since they didn't reject us until after tickets were sold out, ta da! Also a park is a way more attractive and chill place to hang out than on the floor in front of the IGN Theater at Javits.

Show up, or risk being mildly judged.

ABCP 167 RETURNS TO GLORY

No mic problems, very few baby problems, a week in which we actually read comics, a new weird sponsor, a post-credits joke and some bitching about Secret Invasion make it feel like 2010 (or 2009 or whatever) all over again! Sure there's a couple of stray nose-blows that we might have edited out in the past, and sure there's some baby yips in there and sure there's no cat interuptions, but it's pretty close to good ol' old school ABCP.  "Ol' Old School?" Is that okay to say? "Ol' old" What about if you have an oldsmobile from when they used to make those? An Old Olds. An Ol' Old Olds. Now that's a spicy biscuits!

Git yours here!

Oh and here's our messed up car:

Man alive, this podcast has it going on! Let's checklist!

 Listener contributions? CHECK!

Listener contributions that you can only kinda hear because Aaron's mic stopped working at the very beginning and nobody knew it? CHECK!

 Baby interruptions? CHECK!

 Cat interruptions? CHECK!

 Batman talk? CHECK!

PLUS MANY MORE! (it's a turtle.)

Take the survey below, based on this week's books, and you could be on the next show we do!
 GO OVER HERE TO IT.

And now that we've hyped it all up as being super healthy (All the Evie of a regular ABCP, with only half the Aaron!) you can get the show over there in the sidebar, or you can click this right here and get it this way!

I am on cold meds.

WEEK OF 8/8 ABCP SURVEY

Just for the schway of it, let's try something a little new. We'll see what kind of responses we get and whether we can build a show around them (along with our usual opinions on whatever we've had time to get that week)

SO GO OVER HERE AND TAKE THIS FLARK SURVEY!!!!

Ep. 264 - Lost the battle but won the war

The battle to stay awake last night was eventually won by "do not stay awake" before I had a chance to post this, but Chris Sims and I talked about the books that came out this week that Evie and I didn't get to on Friday.

You can listen to that here if you so choose!

Additionally, man we have a cute baby.

BABIES COME BACK! (you can blame it all ... on ... us.)

Rad Baby says SCHLEPISODE 164 is HERE And over there -->

We abandon the usual categories and make up some new ones to bullshit about because frankly if we hadn't, we couldn't have done this show. We talk about all the crap that's been going on in our lives on top of having a 6-month-old baby, including an insane work and family-related travel schedule for Aaron, and a massively disappointing layoff for Evie. (and no, that doesn't give her more time to read comics, in fact she's actually busier than ever.)

We talk Monkeybrain launch, Marvel re-(IT'S NOT A RELAUNCH)-launch, Amazing Spider-Man, some Saga, some Spider-Men, and some Dave Clark Five.

In fact, fuck it. All the music is Dave Clark Five in this one.

Then we get real tired and start to trail off a bit and one of the cats causes problems and then the OH HEY LYNX:

OH HEY LINKS:

Evie's Spider-Man Tangled Web

OK Cupid Enemies

Seriously look at that thing again, that is awesome.

More Like "Ha Ha NOT OOPS BECAUSE HERE IS A NEW EPISODE!"

Can y'all dig it? I'm still suffering from food poisoning! But I did edit the show we taped on Sunday! AND IT IS HERE.  Or over there -->

May 1, 2012

Ha ha OOPS

So on Sunday night we totally recorded Episode #162, but when we were done baby was cranky and it was late so Aaron's like "hey, can you put a post on the blog saying I'll edit this tomorrow and it's on its way?" and I'm like "sure!" and then HA HA I TOTALLY FORGOT and then last night we got food poisoning.

Anyway, point is, there is a new show, Aaron will edit/post it as soon as we get our heads out of the toilet, all will be right with the world.

It's like the Oscars, if... oh you should probably just watch the Oscars

Oh man, you guys. We were SO CLOSE. We got most of our comics read, almost finished our lists, were totally like "what better night to bring the show back than actual Oscar night!" We really had it all sewn up. And then Aaron got sick, and my show prep got interrupted by baby duty, and GOD I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD A HAIRCUT SINCE AUGUST. Anyway, we are going to try really, really hard to at least finish prep at some point tonight and then record tomorrow night. If we all work together, dreams can come true!

Thank you, as always, for your undying loyalty and patience. At least those of you who are still loyal and patient.

UPDATE: And now Aaron has Conjunctivitis. So maybe not.

2011 ABCP YEAR-IN-REVIEW

It seems like just last year we didn't put our year-end show up until several days after the year was over! And it was! And now it is again! And again it shall be next year! But from now on, we shall have an always-valid excuse for being late with anything and everything, which is this:

(With a ridiculously huge thanks to listener JR Jenks for the onesie!)

Yes, everyone welcome little May to the world of Awesomed By Comics, joining the cats, our dryer, and our singing Pokemon clock in the ranks of "noisy things we have that interrupt the show". Except it's a lot harder (and far more irritating to the neighbors) to ignore this one. May is celebrating her three-week birthday today the same way she has celebrated every other day so far, and the same way we assume she will continue to celebrate every day for the foreseeable future; eat, defecate, sleep, repeat.

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and please always remember that you are more than welcome to list your own winners for our categories in the comments.

As always with these year-end shows, we've got a list of nominee-nominees ... that is to say, things we thought were among the best the year had to offer and were deserving of mention. Of these lists, we've narrowed down each category to five or so nominees, about which we talk at some length, and then from those nominees we pick winners. Some were tough to narrow down (we could have had 10 writer nominees easily) and some were tough to pick enough nominees from to fill out a segment (rough year for compelling villains overall) but here you go.
