Ha ha OOPS

So on Sunday night we totally recorded Episode #162, but when we were done baby was cranky and it was late so Aaron's like "hey, can you put a post on the blog saying I'll edit this tomorrow and it's on its way?" and I'm like "sure!" and then HA HA I TOTALLY FORGOT and then last night we got food poisoning.

Anyway, point is, there is a new show, Aaron will edit/post it as soon as we get our heads out of the toilet, all will be right with the world.

It's like the Oscars, if... oh you should probably just watch the Oscars

Oh man, you guys. We were SO CLOSE. We got most of our comics read, almost finished our lists, were totally like "what better night to bring the show back than actual Oscar night!" We really had it all sewn up. And then Aaron got sick, and my show prep got interrupted by baby duty, and GOD I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD A HAIRCUT SINCE AUGUST. Anyway, we are going to try really, really hard to at least finish prep at some point tonight and then record tomorrow night. If we all work together, dreams can come true!

Thank you, as always, for your undying loyalty and patience. At least those of you who are still loyal and patient.

UPDATE: And now Aaron has Conjunctivitis. So maybe not.

No show this week sorryyy :(

We've had a bit of medical drama over here at Chez ABCP, so there unfortunately won't be a podcast this week. Don't worry everyone's ok, but I'm under strict doctor's orders not to get riled up about narrative inconsistency and lazy art. Hopefully we'll be up and running for next week, but your patience during this period is much appreciated.

We haven't read squat from last week yet, Evie's birthday is tomorrow,Evie's at a concert on Tuesday, and by the time we'll be able to put something together it'll be next weekend anyway. But there will be an extra convention-sized TRIPLE (sorta) show coming next week! Stay Tuned!

Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #142

This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by special guest Ron Richards from iFanboy, who stops by in Evie's absence to talk about the books that came out this week, as well as one that came out a month ago, but Aaron's backup shop mislabeled. WHADDYAGONNADO. Big wins for David Hahn's All Nighter, Fraction and Coipel's Thor work, the second Rocketeer Adventures from IDW and the avocado-fueled adventures of Blake Griffin and whoever the hell "Carl" is. Some tempered complaints about the Ultimate Spidey spoiler and DC's weird-ass "cat in the tree" excuse, and Ron reveals his fear of cosplay and promises to come to New Jersey for episode 225.

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and feel free to suggest your own winners for our categories. Also if you have any cash leftover after signing up for your iFanboy.com memberships, feel free to give it to us, over there in the right sidebar.

Covers of the week:
The Mighty Thor #3 by Olivier Coipel and Laura Martin, and Flashpoint: The Outsider #1 by Kevin Nowlan

Bonus Rocketeer Animation by the Banana Brothers.

The Rocketeer 20th anniversary from John Banana on Vimeo.

Bonus other Banana Brothers.

Guuuuhhhh

Hey lovelies,

The computer problems have been fixed, but I am an exhausted mess, and you do not want me trying to entertain you right now. So we're all prepared for the show, but will be recording tomorrow (Monday) night. Thank you so much for your patience. I promise the wait will be worth it.

(AARON EDIT: I shall make no such promise.)

ABC Podcast Episode #119 and Spaghetti Bonus, For 'Tis The Season!!

This later-than-usual episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by The Sanctuary at Rutgers University, which has an amazing comics collection for an ice cream parlor. Try the ABCP Double-Pie, which is not called that and they will look at you funny if you ask for it, but is a scoop of pumpkin pie and a scoop of apple pie. Big wins for Chaos War, Birds of Prey, and X-Factor. Some interesting stuff going on in The Occultist. Aaron flips through Superman: Earth One and spots a painfully stupid mistake. And, surprise surprise, we gush about The Unwritten. Taking a bit of a break from the regular show for a couple of weeks, but our annual year-end spectacular will be here soon to more than tide you over.

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and feel free to suggest your own winners for our categories.

WHOA BUT HEY WHAT IS THIS?

A spaghetti a day keeps the scurvy away.
Three spaghettis a week makes your underarms reek.
Twelve spaghettis a month ah fuck I have painted myself into a corner.

Evie's cover of the week is this:

And then Aaron's cover of the week is this:

And that GODDAMNIT, REALLY? Superman panel is this:

And the actual definition of active voice is this.

And we'll be back next week sometime with our year-end wrapup!

ABCP Episode #BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZTTT

Hey, you guys remember back when Evie was away and I pretended I electrocuted myself in the bathroom? That was funny.

What's not funny is serious electrical problems inside one's wall, severe enough that an outlet with nothing plugged into it is smoking. THERE IS NO SMOKING IN OUR HOUSE, OUTLET. TAKE IT OUTSIDE, OUTLET.

So blame Electro, or Living Lightning, or Black Lightning, or Static, or Electabuzz, or the fact that Superman is just walking around, but we have exactly one room of electricity right now, and it isn't the one with my recording equipment in it. And also the wall was kinda on fire.

Hoping the 24-hour electrician service comes through and we can get you a show tomorrow.

Counterintuition

You would think that with all the news coming out of Comic Con this week, we would be all over it with a new show...but this is just a reminder that there's no podcast this week due to some pressing responsibilities. If I have time this week, I'll post some hilarious and irreverent reactions to various announcements and face-stabbings.

Oh, bonus points to anyone who correctly guesses what my panel of the week would have been. It's not super obvious like Terry McGinniss nuzzling a kitten or something but it is a clever cultural reference that made me LOL.

Also.

Deja vu all over again

Heyoooo! Yeah so like last week, this weekend was very full with the likes of Free Comic Book Day and our anniversary and other very important things like a bunch of Dr. Who. The podcast is all recorded but needs editing, which will take place by roundabout midday Monday. So check back for some special FCBD features, we thank you for your support and patience.

ABC Podcast with Jeff Parker and Tom Fowler! Coming tomorrow!

Hey dudes! So we just did something new and awesome, which was have two of our favorite creators join us on the podcast and share their picks for all our categories! But of course our conversation with Mysterius: the Unfathomable creators Jeff Parker and Tom Fowler was so hilarious and entertaining that it dragged on for fucking ever, and editing will take a little longer than normal. So, please check back here no later than tomorrow evening for Awesomed By Comics Episode #86, which will be way worth the wait.

February 21, 2010

*RAGE*

You guys. The computer caught on fire again and self-destructed when we were an hour-plus through recording Episode 81. And yes, we were saving each few minutes but apparently that's not how it works. So we're very sorry, we'll do it tomorrow night, which means we'll have to stay up late like college kids because Aaron works nights. Please do not complain, we are very grouchy about this. I think we know where the tax refund is going this year.

Shot through the heart

Hey kids, happy Valentine's Day! Just a note that we're in Rhode Island right now, and will use our Presidents Day off tomorrow (Monday) to do the show when we get back--so there will be a day delay on the podcast. Hopefully you have plenty to keep you occupied.

December 13, 2009

Podcast coming Monday

Hey kids, we went to Boston this weekend and just got home, so the podcast will be a day late--but it will for surely be going up tomorrow night. So hang tight, we thank you for your patience!

Episode #70 is up, VERITABLE CORNUCOPIA OF VISUALS COMING SOON

(PARDON OUR APPEARANCE WHILE WE MESS AROUND WITH A POTENTIAL NEW LOGO)

We're getting ready to truck it out of Rochester, but our special on-location-ish episode of the podcast is up here or in the right sidebar. Be advised that we have our normal visual aids PLUS pictures and other bonus material galore, that I just don't have quite enough time to post before check-out, so those will be up tonight. So please come back! Anyway:

This very special episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by Fun Facts About Rochester, NY, where we have recorded the show on location at (a hotel a few miles away from) the Strong National Museum of Play. In addition to an exhibit on American Comic Book Heroes and the National Toy Hall of Fame, the museum houses a fully stocked '80s video arcade, a supermarket just for kids, a fantastic interactive Sesame Street exhibition, and enough wandering toddlers to feed a medium-sized nation. Big winners in the comics department this week include Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, Beasts of Burden, Ares, Dominic Fortune, Angela Robinson's The Web, and New Avengers, and hilarious, exasperated furor is reserved for the likes of Blackest Night and JLA.

ABC Podcast, Episode #66

So, you'll see the show is there in the right sidebar. Sorry, I passed out on cold medicine (again) and couldn't do the whole kit 'n' kaboodle with the post here. Will do it tonight.

ABCP Episode #65

I am working late and getting sick, so I'm going to put off the visual aids until tomorrow night, but the new episode is up here or in the right sidebar. Kisses.

This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by the Valley Shepherd Creamery, where we met some totally badass sheep who totally wanted to hang with us for more than our snacks. Speaking of domesticated animals, Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson's Beasts of Burden wins our hearts, as does Power Girl's cat, and her trip to IKEA. Chew holds onto its title as the Surprise Hit of the Summer well into October, and the new run on JLA, hopefully off a steep cliff, begins. Please be sure to download the War Rocket Ajax Halloween Special this week, where we are delightful, or at least shrill, special guests.
