Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #139

Boy, this is a weird one. And not in an especially memorable way, except that we do break into Bobby Darin's Beyond the Sea partway through. Evie's sick as this, this, this and this this week, and didn't have the energy to both make her list AND do the show, so we did the show just based off of Aaron's list, with Evie never having to exercise her veto power except for the categories where Image's The Mission #4 won stuff, because she hasn't been reading that. But she should be, as should all of you, because it's good, but I don't want to tell you what it's about because that would ruin some of the surprise. Also FF, Catwoman, Strange Adventures and X-Men win, while Green Lantern and Secret Avengers lose in ways that are trite and goofy, respectively.

Oh and also, there's a brief technical hiccup where we lost the signal to the studio from our living room. SEE IF YOU CAN SPOT IT. (hint - I replaced the silence with the pokemon battle music, some cats and a gong.)

Oh and also also, If I were a betting man, which I am not, which is good because I would lose a lot of money based on how bad I am at cell phone poker, but that's beside the point, I would bet on there not being a show next week as I'm heading to Atlanta on Sunday. But you never know, stranger things have happened. Like this fish. That's a strange fish. And clearly it has happened.

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and feel free to suggest your own winners for our categories. Also if you've ever considered supporting the show, this would be a stellar time to do so with a donation of your choosing over there at the top of the right sidebar.

Saudações do Brasil!

Well... not by twitter, but I guess it still counts! Have a nice recovery, Evie, and may you find onyl nice things in your life this week. And in the next one too , why not. Also, Aaron, have an outstanding week, with many nice comics and cool stuff happening for you too.

Thanks for doing the show even with a health problem. I'm kind of new around here, so I'm kind of listening the podcasts backwards, but it's amazing how good the podcats is. Keep it up, guys, and take good care of those cats.

Since Deadpool's healing factor is what makes him crazy, and what made his entire body into scar tissue, "It gets better." wouldn't really be an encouraging message :-).

Did your cat Bo get in a Pokemon battle at 10:52?

The Mission sounds interesting. I'm going to look for back issues of it. I saw a few issues at a shop this weekend.

I hope you get better soon Evie

Secret Avengers 13 was one of the most laughably horrible comic books I've read. I'd ask how Nick Spencer could produce such a funny by accident (when it meant to be serious) story, but I think the editors need to share the blame. This is no doubt what happens when events are moving so fast that time can't be taken to get it right. You might want to read it, for kitsch value. Save your time. Seriously. Just walk on by...

As for Mission. On principle, I refuse to read a comic that has "producer" credits. To me, part of the beauty of comics is fewer cooks in the kitchen. What comic needs 2 writers + 2 producers? Really.

Just read through issues 1 through 4 of The Mission. It was great stuff.

I'm so glad you guys do this show. If it weren't for podcasters like both of you, I probably would miss out on gems like The Mission.

Keep up the great work.

It's not really that surprising that Gotham City Sirens is still going. Catwoman is the best known cast member, and she no longer has her own series, but that ran as an ongoing for 15 years with a six month hiatus for a relaunch between vol. 2 and vol. 3. The sales were never great, I think, but they were steady enough to keep it going, and it looks like Sirens is selling at a similar level.

Oh my God thank you for telling me about Baman Piderman a few weeks ago. It is amazing. It's my new Homestar Runner, which means it's awesome.
Though everybody I show it to seems to be a bit more perplexed than find it as hilarious as I do.
