ABC Podcast, Episode #86, plus visual aids

This very special episode of the Awesomed by Comics Podcast is brought to you by Mysterius the Unfathomable, which we actually spend very little time discussing, despite the fact that the book's creators, Tom Fowler and Jeff Parker (collectively: "Forker!") join us for a full two hours. Power Girl, Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, Regular Spider-Man, and the return of a certain Kitty (Hint: Not Honey Boy) all win big, as do a few Marvel Premieres from 1977, because they're AS GOOD AS THREE COMICS. And Tom can probably forget about pencilling next summer's 480-issue "Image United II featuring Deadpool."

Props to Sandy at http://iloverobliefeld.blogspot.com for coming up with "Forker," btw.

Terrific show, guys. I just started listening a couple of weeks ago-- I don't know how many back episodes I've listened to since then-- but it's fair to call it an ABC Marathon. LOVE the show, and find myself agreeing with your taste in comics much more than any other podcast I've listened to. Keep up the amazing work!

Love the show and the Parker/Fowler episode was fantastic.

There was discussion of The Guild comic and Felicia Day's role in writing the book. She not only wrote the book, but she also wrote the web series (which you two I think would really dig). There's a great profile of her in USA Today (see http://www.usatoday.com/life/comics/2010-03-24-guild-day24-st_N.htm). She basically did what most indie comics creators have done, which is she stopped waiting for things to be offered to her and started to write her own material. I think you'll not only appreciate her journey but also her work.

Thanks! Nathan Cosby posts the 3-panel comics on his Twitter feed here: http://twitter.com/nathan_cosby. You just kinda have to look for them.

I think the Kitty Pryde cover is less a Doctor Strangelove homage then an homage to this http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/05/B17_nose_art.jpg common bomber nose-art motif. Just has more of that type of vibe to it. Though it's possible that that scene in Dr. Strangelove was also inspired by these sorts of images.

I'm...not sure how you set that sort of thing up, but it's on.

It's on.
