ABC Podcast Episode #76, plus visual aids

This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by another horse giving different bridge advice, so get out your notepad. Dr. Strange and various X-Men impress, as do their adorable Canadian boyfriends, and the reformed Rhino warms our hearts. Mike Carey's The Unwritten continues to kill it, and the ending of Christos Gage's Absolution sparks a lukewarm debate. We also get to the bottom of the misidentified Amazing Spider-Man cover artist controversy, which we admit was our mistake, but then they mess up the credits this week so WHO(M) DO YOU TRUST?

I saw that solicitation and immediately thought of Aaron, too. Not just a Firestar one-shot, but it's also drawn by Emma Rios? Clearly someone at Marvel likes you, man.

My crap of the week is me for forgetting to pick up SWORD #3. My Hero of the Week is Casey in Strange #3, I thought her offering her soul to save the kids without even hesitating was pretty awesome. Villain of the Week was Amanda Waller, for setting fire to the House of Secrets with Scandal inside. Panel of the Week was the absolutely horrifying splash page of the beauty pageant on page 3 of Strange. (what can I say, I don't read that many books a week).

I don't play super-often, and I don't know about the first tip, but the other three are pretty much right. I'd say the horse knows his bridge (I am not a horse, so you have at least one non-equine bridge player listening).

Hahahaha - I made the exact same Deathlok joke to Evie when she sent me the link.

My cover of the week was Marvel Adventures Super Heroes #19. Sue Storm having just beaten the asses of pretty much the entire Marvel Universe and still looking for more? Awesome image right there, and WAY hotter than it probably should be.

I didn't get my comics this week...I feel left out. :(

That Firestar title should be a limited series, not a one-shot!

My book of the week was definitely the Unwritten. That title gets better and better.

PS, I can't remember if it was from this week's show or last, but I have to disagree with Evie about *Fables*. I'm getting close to dropping it, which is crazy since I've loved the title since the first issue.

This latest story set-up (post issue 75) has been slow and really uneven. Technically, it has been going on longer than Blackest Night, but nothing much has happened nor do I feel a sense of mounting tension or excitement. At this point I don't even care about the big bad anymore.
