ABC Podcast, Episode #78 plus visual aids

This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by efforts to add more cricket references to our podcast, because that's good show business. Unknowns in the form of Soldiers and Devils Made Flesh win big, as do X-Factor and Guardians of the Galaxy. Weird scheduling issues get a take down, and Wonder Woman's new villains look suspciously like tiny versions of AC/DC guitarist Angus Young.

Hello guys,

I have a new drinking game based on your podcast. Be careful because you can get really drunk very quickly.

1. Everytime Evie says "um", take a drink of your beer.
2. When Evie says "um so" take 2 drinks of your beer.
3 When Evie says "um so uh" drink a full beer.

Again please be careful because you will find yourself drinking a lot.

Cheers!

Andy Zaltzman? That's an impressively obscure reference given that cricket doesnt really exist in the US.

The Zaltzman's are podcasting royalty though, so kudos to you!

Oh we're massive Bugle fans. I think Andy Zaltzman is one of the funniest people on the planet.

I thought Guggenheim was assigned to Action. Maybe it was recently announced, but the CBR interview says he is on tap for the next writer of Action Comics while the War of the Supermen event goes on.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Oh, no I think you're right about Action. Like I said, I vaguely remembered him being assigned to something at DC that I thought was already not very good right now (I adore Rucka, but the whole Superman story is wonky to me, so even he can't salvage it). For some reason I was thinking Guggenheim was moving to JLA, but as you know I frequently say stupid stuff without looking it up.

Did either of you read Gugenheim's Wolverine stuff? If so what did you think? The Civil War tie in was big stupid fun (it opens with Wolverine crashing a jetliner into a cornfield while thinking "This is gonna be a damn shame...I love corn."). I think there was a second arc he did about some sort of retcon on why Wolverine can't die, but I never read it.

I heard Paul O'Brien on "House to Astonish" say that something called "Avengers Academy" written by Christos Gage is replacing the Initiative, but I don't remember where that was announced or if Justice was supposed to be a part of it.

So I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that Astro City plant guy looks like Alan Moore?

Evie said...

I'm sure it's not a coincidence at all, no :).

Just listened to this the other day -- was psyched to hear you guys talk about Philly's One Book One City program!
