This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by THE BEST POWERPUFF GIRLS FANFICTION SOMEONE WHOSE SILLY NAME I GOOGLED HAS EVER READ IN THEIR WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE but which another reader finds less than impressive. We talk about the first comics we ever read, and some of this week's best and worst, as always. Rather predictably, Journey Into Mystery, Batwoman and Daredevil won a bunch of stuff. Rather unpredictably, Superboy and the Monkey King also won. We say hello to the new Ultimate Spider-Man, lament that Squirlgirl didn't actually save the day, and obviously wonder what the hell DC was thinking by getting rid of 2/3 of Amanda Waller.

I think the first comic I ever read had Superman and Captain Marvel in it, but I wasn't able to find that looking through the covers at CoverBrowser.com so instead here's the first comic that I distinctly remember the plot of:
And the first arc that I remember reading and re-reading and re-reading over and over and over because it was just so fantastic:
And here's Evie's first comic ever:

P-P-P-Please make mention of POWER HORSE: The Horse With Horse Power! on #152!
Renee's not dead, it is an employee of the month photo.
No one Ever talks about how much they like Batwoman as a character. Or the story. Just how great William's art is.
I personally think that there isn't anything remarkable about the character.
Pretty sure I said "I love the character and her story". Williams' art just makes it that much better.
Lebeau2501: Dude I'm offended you would even think we wouldn't mention that. You sent the email after we had recorded the show. Have some faith, Power Horse :).

happy ending.
The Monkey King appeared in the fear itself issues of Iron Man 2.0. Ironfist, James Rhodes and a few of the Immortal weapons go to K'un L'unn to deal with some crazy fear itself stuff I forget. It was written by Nick Spencer I
believe.
Ah. Gen-13. The only Gen-13 stuff I remember are the Adam Warren issues. Particularly the Sailor moon parody and the Hong Kong action parody issues. I'm going to have to reread those now.
If I recall correctly, Caitlyn Fairchild's whole deal was that she was ordinarily proportioned and then suddenly became much hotter when her powers activated. I think Sims wrote an in depth history of Gen-13 that's still on the ISB somewhere.
You have to keep the new 52 music for "Crap of the Week" as it is absolutely perfect for that segment.
The Paris thing and the suicide rate going up are two different events in Fear Itself. I don't know if the suicides have been featured in a specific book, but everyone in Paris was turned to stone by a hammered-up Grey Gargoyle in Invincible Iron Man...
I too hope the new Crap theme is for always..
Aaron: your first comic (Superman fighting Captain Marvel) might be DC Comics Presents #33.
With regard to the charter school in Ultimate Spider-Man. The way that I read it: Miles' uncle probably has no idea what charter schools are given the fact that he doesn't have kids, and Miles is a teenager so might know know the specifics either. I suppose I should ask for a "No Prize."
That picture of Amanda Waller looks like a tracing of a bony white porn actress.
NOAH THAT IS EXACTLY IT. Wow, thank you!
I almost drove off the road when the new "Crap of the Week" theme hit. Thank you for the laugh/almost killing me.
ABC-
Hiya and thanks for reading snippets of my email in #151.
I appreciated and agreed with your opinions about the nature in which comics fans criticize the industry. It's something I sometimes become fascinated by.
Crap of the Week theme music made my day. When I saw Red Lanterns #1 at the store this week I let out a
heavy "Dah-nah-nah-nah-nah-Dah-Dah-Dah-Dah-Dah-DaNah", and I got quite the looks. It was worth it.
Cat Fort,

Great show. You guys completly changed me mind about the whole Amanda Waller issue. When I first heard about the change, I really didn't think much about it, but you guys really changed me mind on it.
