THE ISLAND HAS SWALLOWED US.

You see, it's all a big metaphor for TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK circle of life TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK the relationships we forge TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK emotional bonds create new worlds, made literal by TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK hanging a bell on it TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK hakuna matata, it means no TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK TIMESUCK.

We lost ten hours this week to a daytrip to see some friends, and another six to Lost, and as a result one of us is dead tired and the other one has only read three books, two of which she hated, which means TOMORROW night is show night, which means check back Tuesday morning! And also WHY COULD MILES TALK TO THE DEAD?!?!?!

Those are all very good reasons for putting off the show. I'd hate to listen to an hour comprised of (I'm guessing) lukewarm praise for one book and a two-way tie for Crap of the Week.

As for Miles, I don't think we're supposed to know. Why was Hurley visited by all those Ghosts of Christmas Dead throughout the series? Why could Walt make birds fly into windows? Why are so many people named after physicists, philosophers and religious leaders?

I think it's all about the people. The mythology of the island was a way for the producers to suck us all in and tie the characters' personal emotional journeys into something larger that we would all care about. To paraphrase the opening of Chumbawumba's landmark pop hit Tubthumping: "I used to think that it mattered, that mythology mattered... but it isn't bollocks, not compared to what people matter."

But that's just my humble opinion.

Looking forward to the show!

Because Miles was conceived on the island?
