This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by Speed Racer Has a Posse, because Jesus has risen. Punisher kicks tons of ass, Spider-Man goes on a satisfying date for once, and Cloak and Dagger don't do much of anything. We reflect at length on the throbbing whatever that was Blackest Night, and spend unprecedented numbers of minutes talking about the cripplingly depressive entity that is Funky Winkerbean. We also give a shout out to our friends at the War Rocket Ajax podcast and suggest you pay them a visit, because spring is for making new friends.

Hey Chris and Eugene,
I'm a long-time listener to you guys here on Awesomed by Comics, and this was another excellent podcast. As many people have told you in the past, you two stand out from the comics podcasting pack with your great chemistry and excellent production values. Also, I'm glad that Eugene is getting interested in comics other than the Runaways.
Does this count as a Week in Ink, Chris? (say yes so I'm still in the pool)
Runaways? I mean, I do like Runaways but I'm not even sure if I've EVER talked about it on a podcast.
Sandy is being a jokester, as I talk about Runaways constantly, or at least used to when it existed as a good thing.
It's true, I was just playing along from home.
Well that wasn't what I was expecting. But it was a damn fun surprise from the two podcasts I regularly listen too. Especially since I finally got arround to drawing some Pokemon.
Oh, also the link to the mp3 of the episode in the post is a link to episode 86 instead of 87.
GAWD, FIX THE LINK EVIEEEEEEE.
I loved the initial run of Runaways to an unhealthy degree, too. So it just freaked me out, b/c I was wondering HOW SANDY KNEWWWW. GET OUT OF MY HEAD.
I enjoy how we both hated Cloak and Dagger too. I hope if you guys did your show this week, it would've been COTW.
LINK IS FIXED.
On Funky Winkerbean, did you guys know that Sean McKeever totally ghost-wrote that thing for a time? Maybe he still does.
This little factoid sprang to mind a while back, when I was still reading the daily funnies, and there was a FW story about a superhero comic writer. I seem to recall that the character was suffering from all kinds of editorial problems/writer's block and stuff, and couldn't help but wonder if that was McKeever stealthily venting frustration.
Also on Funky Winkerbean- I'm pretty sure John Byrne was drawing it for a while or was drawing the Sunday pages or something. But the "I'm looking at nursing homes for my dad" strip is so depressing it almost does a full 180 into hillariousness. However the cancer storyline was very well done. It's just that it's now the least depressing FW storyline we've seen in years.
Chris & Eugene are pretty much the only non-Aaron & Evie people I can accept hosting the show. If you're ever tempted to do it again with some other podcasters.. just don't. As Tom Fowler said, you guys host 2 of the only ones that aren't completely unlistenable.
I loved the Wachowskis' Speed Racer movie! WE ARE NOW BEST FRIENDS!
