Yeah, no.

So, the studio computer is blitzed. We are beside ourselves with grief, Aaron even more than I as he also uses the studio for music, and we're going to need several days to work this out technologically, psychologically and financially. If I were a smart little media entrepreneur I would slap a PayPal button up on the blog here, but I just find that yucky, and then also when we ended up with like $42 total from a few nice folks we'd be like "well we can't get a new computer but we can get some nice pasta dinners!" and that wouldn't really help anything (in fact it would almost certainly hurt). Anyway, even the potential short-term laptop solution we were aiming for went totally pear-shaped, so we appreciate your kind patience more than we can say. We'll be back with bells on as soon as humanly possible. At least we're not Rolling Stone, which looked like this all day long.

Wow. That is most decidedly not awesome.

Good luck with this, guys. I hope you find a solution soon!

FYI, pretty sure that if you put up a PayPal button you'd get quite a bit more than US$42. Just sayin'.

You guys are, as always, worth waiting for. Home things start to come together for you on the computer front.

Really sorry to hear that Evie, I hope your tech woes get sorted out soon. ABC is definitely worth waiting for, though!

Best of luck working everything out, and I'll look forward to your return.

Perhaps an opportunity for a renumbering? And then after ABC (vol. 2) #19 you can go back to your original numbering for an episode #100.

I don't think the paypal thing would be creepy. and it would be nice to treat you two to something for all the shows you've done for us. :)

On one hand you've earned the right to put up a PayPal button having given us roughly 80 hours of free entertainment. On the other hand I must admit that I do find "Please give us money" pleas to be terribly annoying. Either way I miss the show and this is most decidedly not awesome.

I find them terribly annoying too, hence I will not be doing it. The good news is that Aaron has ordered a new studio computer--it's custom so I don't know how long it will take, but we're not throwing in the towel. And we'll still experiment with a laptop backup possibility this weekend, but no promises. Thanks for your support and understanding, one and all.

NPR can get away with it three or four times a year and ABCP is way more entertaining than they are.

I know you said you hate the whole "give us money" thing, but I have a hunch you two could make it funny. The bits that you folks record ("Watching Porn with Greg Land," "A Message from Joe Quesada," etc) are almost always hilarious. A PBS/NPR-style fundraising or telethon show with donation soliciting bits mixed in among review content has potential. Gotta defray costs somehow.

There's a board game podcast I listen to (Game On! with Cody and John) that held a fundraiser for another podcaster who was trying to move his family from Korea to... somewhere else. Not sure. But what they did, and I think this was an awesome idea, is to get a few board game companies to donate copies of games and then sold raffle tickets for $5 (as I recall). The winner ended up getting something like 30 brand new games and they raised over $3,000 for the guy and his family.

I don't know how friendly you are with creators and whatnot, but I bet you could get a few signed pages or books together. And if you guys don't want to do it to replace your smoldering equipment, you could always donate the proceeds to your favorite charity.

You know, 'cause I'm sure the podcast isn't taking up enough of your time and energy as it is...

Stay Awesome!

There are clever ways to do it, but it's still a clever way of doing something annoying.

To be honest I'm only posting because I came to read the comments and my verification word was "Spermog" and I'm never going to get a verification word that cool ever again. Isn't "Spermog" the name of the little drippy dude you posted a picture of 2 weeks ago?

lol! I agree with Eric, ABC has the BEST word verifications I've ever seen from these things! :D
