ABC Podcast, Episode #63 and visual aids

This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by the latest entry in our rap battle beef war with War Rocket Ajax, and holy cats is it a heartbreaking, dream-making love-taker. Brother I mean Doctor Voodoo works his magic, and the long-awaited wrap-up to Planetary is universally (GET IT?) lauded. A lot of good-guys-turned-bad this week, and WTF is up with that thing that Batman did? That was highly irregular.

I continue to be the only one person in the comics community I know of who, despite being as vocally pro-rights (and anti-religion) as anyone I know...actually likes Orson Scott Card's stuff :( Which just puts me in a very strange place.

I don't know if it's selfish, but a part of me fears the backlash and boycott of an eventual Ender's Game movie...and I wouldn't know whether to think it deserved, or a shame, especially if it makes for the incredible movie I imagine it would make.

Oh, I have one thing to say about those who are saying 'gay' things about the Batman/Superman movie...well, I haven't seen it, but hearing your perspective and those from other podcasters like the girls from Geektress, well, I'm thinking that not everyone who is making comments about the movie is homophobic or anything.

They may just be like the fanfic people of the internet who basically sexualize everyone with each other. I mean, I'm sure some people may be homophobic, but it sounds like some people are just expressing what was brought out a looong time ago, with people making fun of Batman and his 'boy wonder' and all.

Well sure, I'm sure some number of people watching Batman/Superman will explicitly admit "I would like to see them make out," and it's not driven by homophobia but the opposite. However, the vast majority of those jokes, particularly the Batman/Boy Wonder classics, are driven by "two men, living together, with a close relationship? Heh heh. Heh. That makes me uncomfortable. Heh."

Yeah, I see your point, Evie.

I'm a new listener who was led here by WAR ROCKET AJAX and I just wanted to echo Martin's point. Never read a single word of Orson Scott Card's writing, but I'm also someone who doesn't care what anyone thinks of anything regarding what they create. If there are overt or implied homophobic messages in his writing than that's fine, but if he's just writing a story and you can't enjoy because of his political opinions than that's your fault, not his.

Same goes for Miss California. Oh no, the beautiful woman in super hero costumes is anti gay marriage. I guess that makes a little more sense because all she has going for her are her looks and it's not like she's creating things you can judge on their own merits. besides, Perez Hilton is just as big a douche as her and he's the one who got this whole stupid ball rolling.

Podcast is great. Keep it up.

Come on. You *know* Daredevil didn't kill Master Izo. It was undoubtedly some Five Finger Punch Of Fakey Deathery that he unleashed on him that will magically stop his heart and breathing for thirty two point four minutes or something. Which just goes to show how stupid The Hand really is, since they should have chopped off Izo's head and made Daredevil use it as a paperweight. To remind him of his sacrifice, and to save them the expense of buying him a real paperweight at Christmas.
