THERE WILL BE A SHOW THIS WEEK

Just not now. (We're operating on West Coast time in the morning, and East Coast time at night.)

Hope to do it tomorrow from Los Angeles. With special guest Evie's Mom.

Here's a cat we met last night.

Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #144

This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by Bouncing Wailord, which you can (and should) get to by googling "Wailord Pringles." Look, we did it for you, right here. Anyway, we're on that show this week as well, talking about Pokemon for a couple of hours. If you're the kind of person who listens to our show and thinks "man oh man, I wish they would just shut up about comics and get back to Pokemon!" (like I would be, if I listened to our show) then this is the show for you! If you're one of those people who merely tolerates our Pokemon talk, or even has complained about it in the comments or in email, then this is probably not the show for you, but we encourage you to download it anyway even if you have no intention of listening to it - just to make us look more influential than we are. Just download it and delete it, they'll never know. Unless they read this. Which they probably will SHIT I SHOULD NOT HAVE EATEN THE BACKSPACE KEY ON THIS KEYBOARDE.

Big wins this week for Generation Hope #8, Sweet Tooth #23, Secret Six #35, Spider Girl #8, Irredeemable #27 (and part of #26 - you'll see) and Thunderbolts #160. Plus despite some serious love for both Flashpoint and Fear Itself, we've got some ... issues. (one of which is too many damn Juggernauts. The other - we probably shouldn't describe here.)

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and please always remember that you are more than welcome to list your own winners for our categories in the comments. Hell, you can list your own categories for our winners, for all we care. Or list your own winners for your own categories, from your own books. Whatever you want to do.

And if you've got a few bucks burning a hole in your paypal account, then you should probably get your computer checked. But if you want to subsidize a couple of tacos for us when we're in San Diego, knock yourself out with the donate button over there on the right hand side near the top of the sidebar.

Covers of the week:

Jonah Hex #69 by Jeff Lemire, and Vengeance #1 by Gabrielle Dell'Otto

Bonus Regijuggas for you Pokemon lovers out there.

Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #143

This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by the fact that you can pay Nick Spencer three bucks or some 80 year-old painter a lot more (we're assuming) for basically the same idea. Great week for some old-school avenging, some classic X-Mens bantering, some Harley bitchery, and goddamnit, why isn't Bruce Wayne building schools and funding fire departments and neighborhood watch organizations and whatnot? Also despite Marvel's promise that Prelude to Schism will make us "understand what leads to the Schism that is coming!" why does it do no such thing? Also why does Montreal hate Pokemon? Also who is "Safeword?" Also should we get the Ocarina of Time 3DS remake? Or should Evie play it on the Wii? OR should we go get the N64 from the basement? SO MANY QUESTIONS HALP!!

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and if you dig the show, please leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and feel free to suggest your own winners for our categories. Also you are always welcome to donate a little bit to the show, over there in the right sidebar. But ONLY if you've already bought your fill of ABCP-inspired pocket monsters.

Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #142

This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by special guest Ron Richards from iFanboy, who stops by in Evie's absence to talk about the books that came out this week, as well as one that came out a month ago, but Aaron's backup shop mislabeled. WHADDYAGONNADO. Big wins for David Hahn's All Nighter, Fraction and Coipel's Thor work, the second Rocketeer Adventures from IDW and the avocado-fueled adventures of Blake Griffin and whoever the hell "Carl" is. Some tempered complaints about the Ultimate Spidey spoiler and DC's weird-ass "cat in the tree" excuse, and Ron reveals his fear of cosplay and promises to come to New Jersey for episode 225.

Also if you have any cash leftover after signing up for your iFanboy.com memberships, feel free to give it to us, over there in the right sidebar.

Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #141

This episode of the Awesomed By Comics Podcast is brought to you by a nine year-old who returned to his 3rd-grade class the joy of Pokemon through the power of persuasive letter-writing. We saw the Green Lantern movie (and didn't pay for it, thanks to what happened when we tried to see the Yu-Gi-Oh movie.) and then we watched the Green Lantern cartoon thing, and we gave a bunch of awards to Power Girl and Batgirl, two of the strongest and most appealing female characters in comics, both of whom we only have a few more months to enjoy in their current incarnations. Crap to not knowing what the hell is going on in X-Men Schism and we break down why the interview format worked well in Guardians of the Galaxy but it's annoying as all hell in Avengers.

But the real star of this show is PASTA AND VEGETABLES.

YOU WILL NEED:

1 Zucchini
1 Yellow Squash
1 Vidalia Onion
1 Red Pepper
1 Stalk Garlic Stem or Garlic Chives
1 Box Pasta of your choice

Cube the Zucchini, Squash, Pepper and Onions and toss with the garlic stem and a little bit of olive oil and/or butter. Wrap in tin foil and bake at 400 for about 45 minutes. Do about half of a podcast. Cook some pasta. When the veggies are all baked and the pasta is fully cooked, toss the pasta with the veggies and sprinkle some shredded parmesan on top and eat while watching the end of Green Lantern: Emerald Knights which was pretty good. Then go back and do the rest of the podcast.
