Awesomed By Comics Podcast Episode #148

As we creep closer to our 150th show, this episode is brought to you by the return of the Zen Koan .... which quickly devolves into rap videos and masturbation jokes. Many loves for Daredevil, All Nighter, Journey Into Mystery, The Stuff of Legend, Generation Hope, and Power Girl. Not many loves for talksploitation comics and the death of fun. Many shenanigans including several trips to the MyTube, followed by FriendFace and BookSpace. Also we need a damn window in our studio. Or at the very least, a donkey with a box fan attached to it who can mill about the house spreading its cool donkey breeze.

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and please always remember that you are more than welcome to list your own winners for our categories in the comments. Hell, you can list your own categories for our winners, for all we care. Or list your own winners for your own categories, from your own books. Whatever you want to do. And if you feel like donating, there's a button over there with which you can do just that! (Or save your money to buy my record when it comes out, which I also fully support.)

Covers and stuff later, if I remember.

Yeah, that New York song by Alicia Keys really is horrible. However, it's been a huge hit. Even here in the Netherlands.

Oh, and if you want to read FUN comics, check out Gladstone's School for World Conquerors by Image. It's a beautifull, fun and cute all ages comic!

28 episodes to go! 81-108. We're almost there!

I agree with every comic about Gladestone. It's a good book. Although the 4 issue felt more like a back up story that was drawn out a bit. It was dedicated to Scott McCloud, so it pretty much had a character talk about the good of comics for well over 2/3 of the issue. Which all well and good, but it felt like it could have been summed up in maybe 5 pages. However, Mummy-girl is my hero/villien of the week, since she is the one talking about comic books.

Outside of that it's been fun so far.

Also, I'm surpized neither of you got angery about the cover of POwer Girl, with the French cut of her outfit going way too high, like that one Pyslock had.

Porky Dick Pig

Man- forget Howard the Duck(and I wish people would)

That's the anthropomorphic character I want to read.

I'll have my eps in by the end of the week. My ipod mini (yes, a mini) took a crap and I couldn't listen to any eps at work.

Ziah, I can do 81-85, too.

Has Evie just never played Ocarina, or no Zelda at all? I tend to start people on a more accessible game to get them into the series, like Wind Waker, Link To The Past or Minish Cap. No "Water Temples" in those, and more story.

Hahaha! Total podcast domination!

Did you guys have any of that earthquake action? Are you ok?

Evie said...

Pffff earthquake was nothing here, neither of us even felt it. As a Southern California native who's felt dozens of earthquakes, it was hilarious to see everyone in NYC freaking out over a jiggle.

Fun podcast as ever, ta, I have a teensy query. When you were talking about some fella singing about a gas face (colour me lost - are you talking about someone pretending to fart?), and then being involved in a baseball shop, there was talk of him being a 'Bertha'. Googling doesn't help, so what, pray tell, is a Bertha?

I loved the latest Generation Hope too. I never knew 'Idie' was pronounced 'Ee-dee'. I was assuming 'I' as in 'Ivy'. Ta!

Birther (remember we don't add random Rs to the ends of words). ;)

Ah, one of those nutters who claim Obama isn't eligible - thanks Evie! Sorry, dumb Brit ...

Oh, one point on schism, you're not supposed to think that the Hellfire kids (who I guess will be the new Inner Circle, would that make crazy cat girl the new White Queen? Not sure which of the other two guys I'd peg as a new White King, but traditionally the whichever isn't would be a bishop) were killed. If you look at the fourth-last page the bottom panel shows them getting away without their masks. Also, I'm reasonably sure that the idea is that Idie 'stopping' them was exactly what they wanted to happen (not that specifically, but something along those lines).

I don't know if Wolverine by Jason Aaron is on your pull list or has been on it, but the reveal on the guys he's been fighting lately was awesome. You should check it out if you haven't been.

Lebeau2501 said...

I haven't read the reveal in Wolverine yet, but it's taken too many issues to get to it. I read it because it was a in a subscription bundle with X-Factor and X-Force.

Birtha...birther...
I'm from Long Island, but I moved to Colorado when I was 8, so I don't talk like an idiot anymore. My mom was bawn'n raised in Flushing, so she would go ta the dina ta get some pizzar.

Either drop the 'r' or add one.

Hi there, I'm square from the Bouncing Wailord podcast. You spoke about golems at the beginning of the podcast, I would like to point out that Regirock, Regice, and Registeel are pokemon based off the jewish folklore idea of golems.

I enjoyed the podcast this week! :D
