ABCP Episode #135

This episode of Awesomed By Comics is brought to you by, apparently, the fact that all of you, supposedly, like Evie better than Aaron and subconsciously psychically direct your good vibes more in her general direction, or something. Lots of great team books this week, with Thunderbolts, Generation Hope, X-Factor and Power Girl (which is sort of a team book at the moment) coming out on top. It's a handsy week, as nearly everyone cops a feel, and Aaron thinks this is awesome. The new season of Doctor Who premieres, thank god, as does a fun new Doctor Who comic.

Download/subscribe to the show here or in the right sidebar, and leave an iTunes review! Tell us what you think in the comments, and feel free to suggest your own winners for our categories. Also if you've ever considered supporting the show, this would be the time to do so with a donation of your choosing over there at the top of the right sidebar.

Also, apologies for the current lack of visual aids--as everything in our house is falling apart around us, so goes our All-In-One--a new printer/scanner is on the buy list for this week.

There is a Satan in the Marvel Universe. Ghost Rider was originally given powers by Satan, later retconned to be Mephisto. ( who's son, by the way, is named Blackheart). He's also appeared in the Jason Aaron Wolverine story, Chaos War wherein he fought the nothingness guy, and was the main villain of Way's Ghost Rider run. It seems that in mainstream marvel U, they use Mephisto so as not to get in trouble with them religious folks.

Basically, there was a period in the eighties or nineties when all prior appearances of Satan were retconned to be someone else, usually Mephisto. According to Wikipedia, Daimon Hellstrom and Satana's father was retconned to be a demon called "Marduk Kurios". Recently there seems to no longer be any 'Satan rule' but also no imposed agenda for how to treat those earlier stories, so some writers are doing stories involving Hell or Satan and some of the characters that formerly had Satan in their origin or background seem to be quietly reverting to that.

Was that an intentional Laurel & Hardy Doctor Who reference? :)

Still wishing you both great luck in your endeavors!

The Nurse Shark is the Saint Bernard of the Ocean but does it's little first aid kit have a martini in it?

Speaking of Satana honking Moonstone, did you see Erika from the Bucko web comic and the gag drawing she did. It's really funny.

Oh and Satan is part of marvel comics. It part of that whole, there are different realms of hell with different rulers.

When I was a teenager I would read the old Son Of Satan books when my families religious crazy relatives would come to stay with us. I hated the books but loved pissing off the cousins.

Excellent show as ever, kids. Aaron, I love you as much as Evie. Even when you say you're 'literally speechless'!

Regarding Silver Surfer - this still to Aaron - hasn't the point of the Silver Surfer always been that he ISN'T an emotionless alien? The whining git.

Luck, luck ...
